PreCalibrated Non-Contacted IRt/c's

Self-powered. Non-electronic, no-fail construction. Tested at >1,000 years between failures, IRt/c sensors’ patent technology make them the most reliable sensors on the market. Best used for low temperatures (< 500 °F/260 °C) and non-metal or coated metal surfaces.

Adjustable Non-Contact IRt/c's

These IRt/c models allow you to calibrate the IRt/c’s (IR thermocouple) to match a thermocouple in whatever temperature range you require. The range adjustment screw is adjusted to calibrate for temperature range needed and material properties (emissivity). Both models for non-metals (HiE) and metals (LoE) are available.

Graphics Industry

Non-contact temperature sensors are used for printing processes such as ink drying, finding dry out points in webs, measuring roller temperature to increase print quality, scanning webs for thermal profiling, measuring webs and ink rollers to increase speed and reduce scraps. Web and sheet fed presses, ink rollers, platens, conventional and waterless printing presses, and laminating machines are utilizing IR thermocouple technology.

Automotive Industry

From paint drying to auto racing to tire processing, the IRt/c's can increase racing performance, production speed, and product quality. Tune your suspension of your race car by profiling the tire's temperature, monitor the temperature of your torque converter, and your brake pads. In automotive manufacturing a special Heat Balanced IRt/c (IR thermocouple) can measure the internal temperature of the tire's threads.

Portable heaters to do spot repairs in automotive body shops use IRt/c technology. And our portable NIST traceable D501 is only IR thermometer that will give true accurate temperature for engine tuning in the R/C race cars.

Agriculture Industry

Plastics Industry

Monitor plastic injection molds to assure that your part has cleared, and IR thermocouples are well suited for monitoring the temperature of plastic extrusions, either at the point of extrusion to monitor correct extrusion temperature, or after air cooling to monitor/control the cooling process prior to cutting to length. For forming plastics, radiant heat with an IRt/c is an excellent combination of heating method and control.

Metals Industry

Measuring metals with any Infrared device is always a challenge. The first thing to do is coat, paint or condition that surface so that it becomes less reflective and has a higher emissivity. If that can't be done, a series of adjustable model IR thermocouples with Low Emissivity filters are available. The LoE filter blocks out reflective energy that contributes to errors when measuring metal surfaces.

For applications in molten metals, steel processing, machining of metal parts, heat treating, blast furnaces, preheating, galvanizing, tinning, reheating, coke ovens, induction heating, and rolling mills, the adjustable LoE models are suitable. For temperatures >500F/260C the self powered, adjustable LoE sensors can be calibrated for t/c output. Otherwise mv signal output tables are available and two color pyrometry can be utilized.

Asphalt Industry

Mixing asphalt at a construction site has an important requirement for controlling to the correct temperature. Using non contact means will allow it to be done quickly and reliably as the IR thermocouple will not make contact with the asphalt, therefore no probes will be damaged and downtime is minimized. IRt/c's are also used to monitor road temperature in the winter for deicing, and will signal when to condition the road surface when the road is freezing. Waste is kept to a minimum as the salts are only applied when the road is reaching freezing temperature.

Glass Industry

Glass processing, whether of sheets, bottles, or other forms, usually involves temperature as a primary control variable. The IRt/c's spectral characteristics and the inability of glass to transmit the long wavelengths of infrared means that the surface of any glass product can be measured with any precalibrated IR thermocouple.

Food Processing Industry

IRt/c's (IR thermocouples) fixed in place monitoring food product continuously and the portable D501 for spot inspections are used for inspection to prevent microorganism contamination by bacteria, viruses and parasites.

Packaging

IRt/c infrared thermocouples can accurately control the temperature of rotating and moving stainless steel heaters common in the packaging industry, without touching the heaters. The SnakeEye Thermal Switch detects the presence of adhesives. Reduce scrap in your manufacturing process. Detect the presence of hot objects (such as hot melt adhesive, labels, laser engravings, seals, and pressed fit parts) with the photo-cell like, thermally sensitive, fast thermal switch.
