Infrared Temperature Sensors
Noncontact
infrared temperature sensors absorb infrared (IR) radiation from a heated
surface. The sensors convert incoming IR light to an electrical signal
that corresponds to a specific temperature. They are ideal for applications
that do not allow for direct temperature measurement.
Advantages of infrared temperature sensing:
- Speed
- Measurement of moving targets
- Measurement of hazardous or inaccessible objects
- Can be used in high temperature environments
- No energy loss due to interference
- No contamination
- No mechanical effect on surfaces
Types of Thermalert® noncontact infrared temperature sensors:
General Applications
- Process plants such as steel, glass, & ceramics
- Forging
- Heat treating
- Plastics
- Baby diapers
- Semiconductor operations
